About this Podcast
I have always had a soft spot for the importance of nutrition and an even softer one for children. I began this podcast with the intention to speak mostly scientifically and with hard-hitting facts about the importance of providing kids of all ages with good nutritional choices. I then shifted my focus to speaking to a specific audience group: parents. Many kids do not have control over their meals. They eat the way they do because of the foods that their parents are choosing to give them. The choices made by parents can be conscious and unconscious. Many people carry the kinds of foods they ate in their youth into adulthood. These choices can be based on cultural, social and economical influence and they’re all important.
It is imperative that children receive good, nutritional foods. Proper nutrition influences brain development, behavior and attention span. It also plays a significant in whether your child is at an increased risk for obesity, asthma, heart disease and other health risks. Healthy nutrition gives kids the energy and strength to navigate optimally and consistently throughout life and gives them the opportunity to deal with various obstacles along the way, health and otherwise. Dietary habits established in childhood often carry into adulthood, so teaching children how to eat healthy at a young age will help them stay healthy throughout their life.
At the end of the podcast, I mention specific, simple tips for parents to follow when thinking about the way to feed their children. There are many things to do to ensure that kids are receiving foods with enough nutritional value and it should be every parents responsibility to make sure they are making the right decisions for the health of their children.
